CIO – Alain Serhan says Pharma CIOs Enjoy Higher Profile
The role of the CIO has gained importance in the pharma industry, reports Medical, Marketing & Media. A recent study by Egon Zehnder and the IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics - “New Strategic Information and Technology Rules in Life Sciences Companies” - confirms this trend. According to Alain Serhan, co-leader of Egon Zehnder's global digital health initiative and co-author of the study, the CIO is increasingly becoming more strategic. “As technology becomes core to the pharmaceutical business, there is a fantastic opportunity for the CIO to step up and play a more significant role. There's no one better at understanding data sets and analytics.” More specifically, companies are looking for creative individuals with digital fluency and the ability to understand the offline and online behavior of patients, explains Serhan.
