Real Estate Manager – Effective Succession Planning: Get an Early Start and Use Data

Succession planning is often a case of too little too late, reports Elizabeth Blosfeld in Real Estate Manager. Egon Zehnder consultant Greig Schneider confirms that succession planning rarely gets enough attention. How can companies plan transitions at the top effectively? In Schneider’s experience, focusing on the company’s future goals rather than past achievements is essential to building a successful plan. Data is also critical, adds Schneider, as it can be used to conduct a performance analysis and understand challenges related to future growth strategy. As for the price tag, “Good succession planning can be expensive, but much less than the cost of not doing it,” Schneider warns.
