Rigzone – Talent in the Time of Bankruptcy
In a contributed piece for Rigzone, Steve Goodman and Todd Auwarter provide a primer for identifying and developing leadership talent during the downturn in the oil and gas industry. Under the threat of bankruptcy, the default inclination is to think in terms of capital and physical assets, and leaders often overlook significant future talent implications resulting from a cost-focused strategy. Steve and Trent advise various stakeholders in managing the process of identifying potential, and investing in succession, development and retention strategies for the CEO, senior leaders and throughout the organization. In the end, all stakeholders need to be guided by the principle that current survival must be in the service of a long-term vision for the future.
