Security Roundtable – Kal Bittianda – CISOs – a New Mindset for Managing Information Risk
After transitioning from technical guru to core senior leader, the chief information security officer (CISO) role is evolving to embrace information risk, writes Egon Zehnder consultant Kal Bittianda in Security Roundtable. In highly-regulated industries like financial services and healthcare, sensitive data plays an increasingly critical role in all business areas. This more information-centric environment calls for a new mindset. According to Bittianda: “The CISO thus will evolve from the unsustainable “cyber czar” position to become responsible for managing the organization’s information risks, supporting and sustaining the appropriate risk management culture and engaging with the C-suite regarding the use of new technologies and the information-risk implications of entering new businesses.”
