Prior to joining as an Egon Zehnder consultant, Shalimar was a founding investor and the Head of Communications at Siklus, a Jakarta-based tech startup that was founded to reduce single-use plastic waste by providing home-delivered refill services. Concurrently, she held roles at the World Bank, advising on communication strategies, facilitated engagements with external stakeholders, and civil society organizations to further cultivate partnerships and collectively drive progress. Her earlier professional journey started in media with Forbes Indonesia and subsequently followed by positions in Indonesian communication firms, where she focused on media training, monitoring, brand marketing and crisis management.
Shalimar’s leadership journey began in her youth where she graduated from Massanutten Military Academy as the first female cadet Battalion Commander. She then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Johnson & Wales University, and a Master in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
