János Strohmayer is the Office Leader in Budapest, an active member of Egon Zehnder’s Financial Services Practice, and an active contributor to the firm’s Assessment & Development Practice. He works with a broad set of industries in Hungary and the region and has extensive relevant experience with financial institutions, focusing on retail, corporate banking, and risk management. János’ deep consulting experience makes him an expert advisor on talent matters including succession planning and leadership assessment and development for senior management and board positions.
My work for Egon Zehnder is about “happiness cubed”: clients, candidates, and colleagues working together to follow their passions and achieve their goals.
Before becoming a consultant at Egon Zehnder, János was Chief Transformation Officer at Intesa Sanpaolo’s Hungarian subsidiary, CIB Bank, and prior to that he was the Managing Partner for Hungary. Earlier, he led the Banking Practice at McKinsey & Company, working widely across Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Middle East, and Nigeria. During that time, János ran two major global consultant training programs. He began his career at Central Europe Trust, a London-based investment banking and consulting boutique.
János earned a Magister Philosophiae in history and then a graduate degree in archival sciences and museum administration from the University of Vienna, where he is a lifetime Fellow of the Austrian Historical Institute. He also earned an MA in international economics and international relations from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. János is multilingual and devoted to his wife and five children whom he enjoys traveling and playing music and board games with.
