Based in Seattle, Phyllis Campbell is an active member of Egon Zehnder’s Board Advisory and Chief Executive Officers practices. Clients value her sharp mind and sound advice grounded in decades of experience as a management consultant, successful corporate executive, and member of multiple boards.

I’m passionate about the value of privately held companies that last for multiple generations and inspired by Egon Zehnder’s mission statement of “Leadership for a Better World.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Phyllis advised corporate directors and boards as an independent management consultant. That was preceded by a lengthy career at J.P. Morgen that culminated in the roles of Regional Chair for the Pacific Northwest and Vice Chair. Before that, Phyllis served as the President and CEO of The Seattle Foundation, one of the largest community philanthropic foundations in the U.S. Earlier she spent six years in the roles of President and CEO of the U.S. Bank of Washington. Phyllis continues to serve on the boards of Remitly (RELY) and the Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) and belongs to SanMar’s advisory board. She is also an independent board director and advisor for the nonprofit Allen Institute, which carries out bioscience research. Earlier, Phyllis supported the Alaska Air Group as an independent director for 15 years and spent seven years as a member of Nordstrom’s board of directors while also chairing its audit committee.

Phyllis graduated from the University of Washington’s Pacific Coast Banking School and completed a BA in business administration from Washington State University followed by an Executive MBA from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. In 2021 Phyllis was inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame and received the top 2021 NACD (national) award of “Nonprofit Director of the Year” award. Her other accolades include the Women of Color Magazine’s Top Women in Finance Award, the Woman Who Makes a Difference Award bestowed by the International Women’s Forum, and the 36th Regents’ Distinguished Alumna Award from Washington State University. Phyllis is married and has 10 nieces and nephews.
