Before joining Egon Zehnder, Uhuru was a Principal with the Boston Consulting Group in Johannesburg, leading advisory projects for financial institutions while focusing on sustainability challenges. That was preceded by the role of dealmaker with the Rand Merchant Bank, serving mining companies across sub-Saharan Africa. Earlier, he was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co., heading strategy-focused projects for banks and industrial companies. Uhuru launched his career as an analyst with Accenture.
Uhuru earned a BCom in politics, philosophy and economics and a BCom in economics (with honours) from the University of Cape Town, following up with MCom in development finance from that institution’s Graduate School of Business. On a pro bono basis, he also enjoys helping not-for-profit organisations to enhance their impact. Outside work, Uhuru keeps himself fit with cross-fit, hiking and trail running and enjoys spending time with his two young daughters.
