Harvard Business Review – Leadership Excellence: Building a Bridge to Job Growth
With technological advances increasingly making human labor redundant, how can today’s leaders drive job growth? One highly effective strategy is to invest in leadership excellence, writes Egon Zehnder Senior Adviser Claudio Fernández-Aráoz in the Harvard Business Review. This is the goal of institutions like the African Leadership Academy, which offers a two-year pan-African pre-university program for young individuals who demonstrate perseverance, courage, passion and ethics. The academy’s aim is to nurture leaders who will go on to transform Africa as country presidents, central bank governors, or top CEOs. Singapore has also successfully invested in public sector talent over the past fifty years, creating a civil service elite that can dynamically shift government policies over time to boost job growth. “Only extraordinary leaders will help us face the monumental challenge of preserving human dignity in the digital age,” Fernández-Aráoz concludes.
