Valor International – New Executive Leadership Profile for Brazil
The current macroeconomic upheaval in Brazil is typical of emerging economies, Egon Zehnder’s Chief Executive Rajeev Vasudeva told Valor International, but requires a specific and new type of leader who can effectively navigate crises. According to Vasudeva, essential traits include toughness, resiliency, a long-term focus and engagement. “The time is to connect emotionally with the team, show that you care genuinely about the situation and that everybody will come out of the crisis together,” he said. Other required skills include adapting quickly to instability and a “global fluency” from international leadership experience. Egon Zehnder consultants currently work with Brazilian companies from offices in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. “Brazil is still a future bet for us,” Vasudeva said.
