Karsten De Clerck is senior partner of Egon Zehnder and until recently lead the firm’s offices in Belgium and Luxemburg. He is active in Board Consulting, CEO succession, as well as the consumer and retail practices. Drawing on close to 30 years of experience, he provides advice on C-suite and board-level leadership to Egon Zehnder’s clients.

Before joining Egon Zehnder in 1995, Karsten held a variety of sales and marketing leadership roles at Barry Callebaut, the world’s leading chocolate producer, last as its Sales and Marketing Director for the U.K. and Ireland. He began his career as an associate with McKinsey & Company in Brussels and Paris.
Karsten earned a master’s in commercial engineering from the Solvay School of Economics and Management of the Free University of Brussels (VUB) and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. He is honorary president of the INSEAD Alumni Association of Belgium and Fellow of his Alma Mater VUB. Karsten was elected Chairman of the Free University of Brussels (VUB) in 2019 and is since then equally a member of the university hospital governing board. He also is a non-executive director of the Solvay Institutes.
