Ed Camara is CEO Emeritus and a core member of the firm’s Industrial practice. Based in Miami and Toronto, he served the maximum allowed two terms as Egon Zehnder’s global CEO until November 2024 and previously was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee for 10 years. Prior to this, he served as Managing Partner in both Canada and in Brazil. Ed is a sought-after advisor to leading firms on critical talent issues as they adapt and transform amidst rapid changes in the global industrial sector. With deep expertise in capital-intensive sectors, such as mining, metals, building materials and energy, Ed advises board members and C-level executives at some of the largest global mining companies. He is also a trusted advisor to many family-owned businesses.

Before joining Egon Zehnder, Ed held various roles at Holcim Group, a leading cement and building materials group, serving as strategic planning manager, treasurer, and assistant to the CEO. At Holcim, Ed led corporate functions across Latin America, including strategic planning, finance, and marketing, while being based in São Paulo, Brazil and Céligny, Switzerland. Ed began his career as a business analyst at Exxon Chemical Company in Brazil and subsequently served in a range of corporate and client facing responsibilities in Exxon’s downstream operations.
Ed earned a BSc in Economics from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and an MBA from IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland. In his private life, he enjoys listening to and playing rock music and is keenly interested in geopolitics and development economics. He and his wife have two adult children.
