Frank Heckner, Managing Partner of the firm’s Basel office, is a core member of the Firm’s Health, CEO and Board Practices. He has extensive international CEO succession and Board Advisory expertise in Health Care and beyond. Together with the University of St.Gallen Frank co-hosts the St.Gallen Board Retreat, a platform to engage Europe’s leading chairs and non-executive directors in discussions to advance boardroom excellence. Frank is also co-host of the St.Gallen Board Academy, a board school for future board members. Further, Frank acts as a coach to unlock senior executives’ potential, namely in the context of CEO and C-suite successions. Frank joined Egon Zehnder in 2006, he was the Managing Partner of Egon Zehnder Switzerland from 2012 to 2017 and led the Firm’s EMEA Health Practice from 2017 to 2021.

Before Egon Frank was a Divisional General Manager at Gurit, a global leader in composite material solutions. He began his career at McKinsey & Company in Zurich, where he worked as Associate and as Engagement Manager, advising international medical device, chemicals, and industrial companies on corporate strategy and organizational design.

Frank earned a Master of Science in Chemistry from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, in Zurich, a Master of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Fribourg, in Switzerland, and a PhD in Pharmaceuticals Marketing with Novartis from the University of Fribourg. Frank is passionate about history and politics and is a big fan of the ICRC and Swiss academic institutions. Having been born and raised in the Swiss Alps in Davos, Frank likes mountain outdoor sports. He is married and has a 16 year-old daughter.
