As the role of the board has expanded, so has the need for continuing development for corporate directors. Shareholders and society expect much more from boards of directors and there is a growing demand from senior executives for their boards to provide judgment and wisdom on how to continuously improve, taking advantage of global and technological opportunities while avoiding traps and ensuring growth and sustainability.

For board chairs
There is also customized development for board chairs, who must be masters of complexity and “meaning makers” skilled in advocating and balancing an array of different stakeholders. They must ensure every board member has access to development programs and that their board leadership succession processes are transparent and inclusive.
Board Development Programs
Together with the University of St. Gallen, we offer two in-person programs tailored for members of Europe’s leading boardrooms. The St. Gallen Board Retreat is a three-day program designed for Europe’s leading chairs and non-executive directors to engage in discussion and advance boardroom excellence. The St. Gallen Board Academy, a three-and-a-half-day program, is designed to develop Europe’s new generation of board members and support participants in preparing for their first non-executive mandate at a large company, by bringing them together with incumbent non-executive board members from prominent European companies.
