Handelsblatt – Leaders Need Bold Vision to Banish Uncertainty
“Leading a company is definitely a lot more difficult now thanks to rising volatility and insecurity,” warns Michael Ensser, Managing Partner of Egon Zehnder, Germany in the business daily Handelsblatt. On a positive note, many executives are responding to the rise of populism by focusing on bold new visions and innovation. This, in turn, means creating “a culture of failure”, forgiveness and correcting mistakes, rather than covering them up, says Ensser. It also makes chief executives more important role models than ever. In Ensser’s view, “Top managers have to take the initiative, act more democratically and less hierarchically.”
