Financial Times – Study Bears Mixed News for Board Diversity Advocates
There was mixed news for supporters of gender diversity on corporate boards this week, reports the Financial Times. Egon Zehnder’s Global Diversity Board Analysis revealed progress towards gender parity in 36 of 44 countries, with 84 percent of big company boards worldwide boasting a female member in 2016, up from 77 percent in 2014. On the downside, the US and the UK both joined the list of countries with fewer new female board hires in 2016. In the US the picture was particularly disappointing, with the number of women on boards having stagnated at one in five since 2012.
