South China Morning Post – Developing digital leadership skills

The digital transformation is driving demand for leaders able to use social media to boost customer service and engagement, writes Catherine Zhu, a consultant at Egon Zehnder Hong Kong, in her column for the South China Morning Post. According to Zhu, executives must focus leadership development on competencies that matter in the digital age. These skills include a deep understanding of the new generation of “digital native” consumers, and how their online experience shapes buying decisions. In addition to driving transformational change, digital leaders must also be able to connect seemingly unrelated trends to set up new business models, notes Zhu.
