Private equity is seeing a paradigm shift away from a star cult and towards an emphasis on strategy, process and due diligence, reports the European private equity magazine realdeals. “Investors are still impressed by individuals with strong personalities […]. What has changed is openness around what a firm is doing to build a culture and a process that delivers great deals,” explains Christoph Lueneburger, global private equity practice leader at Egon Zehnder. “Private equity used to generate most of its value by buying and selling well, but now it is what you do in between that counts. It is the operating partners and portfolio leadership teams who are generating much of the value,” notes Lueneburger.
