Based in New Delhi, Karan Narang leads Egon Zehnder’s Consumer Technology and Digital group in India; and Marketing and Sales Practice in Asia Pacific, in addition to being active in the Firm’s Consumer Practice in EMEA. He focuses on helping clients ensure smooth CEO successions, hire capable senior leaders, and optimize their board composition. He also advises them on assessing and developing senior executives, improving their organizational structure and culture, and ensuring a smooth succession when founders retire. Supporting family businesses is another of Karan’s specialties.
What excites me most about my work as a consultant is having opportunities to work closely with industry leaders and hone my understanding of what defines great leadership.
Before joining Egon Zehnder, Karan was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Co. in the Gurgaon/New Delhi area, primarily helping clients in the fields of healthcare, industrials, and energy (upstream oil and gas and renewables) master their strategic, operational, and organisational challenges. He also advised public sector and government clients on topics related to health, education, and skill optimisation.
Karan earned an MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree from the University College of Medical Science of the University of Delhi, doing his internship in dermatology at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. He then completed an MBA at the Indian Institute of Management in Lucknow while specialising in strategy. Outside work, Karan loves spending time with his wife and two children, reading widely, and singing while accompanying himself on the guitar.
