Yu Chen, based in Shanghai, is an active member of Egon Zehnder’s Consumer and Technology & Communications practices in Greater China. He helps multinational and local clients build strong, sustainable businesses by finding strong executive candidates and supporting the further development of both new and seasoned leaders.

What inspires me most is growing together with my clients and supporting them in building successful businesses that also help create a better world.

Before joining Egon Zehnder, Yu was with Google helping large Chinese clients grow their businesses overseas. Prior to that, he was a Senior Strategist at Du Xiaoman (previously Baidu Financial), supporting the executive team in defining and implementing strategy. Earlier, Yu worked as a management consultant at Bain & Company, serving global clients while based in Finland. He began his career as a strategy manager at Metso at its headquarters in Finland, focusing on the machinery market for the global mining, pulp & paper, and oil & gas industries.

Yu earned an MS in network economics from the Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid and Paris-Sud University, an MS in finance from the Aalto University School of Business, and an MBA with distinction from INSEAD. Outside work, Yu enjoys playing soccer and exploring food and interesting places with his significant other.
